EE WingsAUSTIN, Texas. January 30, 2015 – Eagle Eye Networks today announced that the Eagle Security Camera Video Management System (VMS) is not vulnerable to the “Ghost” exploit (CVE-2015-0235), which is a threat affecting most Linux distributions. The Eagle Eye Security Camera VMS is a cloud service for managing and recording video.

Ghost is a critical vulnerability affecting Linux distributions; it allows hackers to remotely take control of systems without knowing any system IDs or passwords. The fix code was originally created for the Ghost vulnerability on May 21, 2013; however because it was not recognized as a security threat at the time, most Linux versions used in production were not upgraded and thus remain unprotected.

Eagle Eye Networks Security Team monitors potential threats such as Ghost, Heartbleed, and Shellshock, and patched its cloud-based video surveillance system within 18 hours of discovery of the Ghost vulnerability, protecting its customers and ensuring they are not compromised.

“Eagle Eye Networks has a dedicated security team to keep our VMS safe, so that our customers and channel partners can focus on their business without worrying about hacker threats,” said Dean Drako, President and CEO, Eagle Eye Networks. “Further, our ability to immediately update the cloud managed security camera VMS with appropriate security patches further distinguishes Eagle Eye Networks Security Camera VMS.”
