How Cloud Security Solutions are growing the proptech movement

By Max van Riel, Eagle Eye Networks

The disruption of an industry is always something that undergoes various phases. Everybody knows the adoption cycles from enthusiasts, visionaries to pragmatists and skeptics. The adoption of Cloud Video Surveillance and Cloud Access Control within the security industry is no different.

However, it is also true that in recent years we have seen many examples of industries that are being disrupted a lot quicker than the traditional adoption curve. This can happen because factors outside of the industry are playing an influence. Within the security industry, one of the factors is that the traditional split in roles within security is changing.

Previously, an IT security specialist did not deal with many physical security applications. As applications become more advanced, they usually require a connection to the IT network of a company. This means an IT security specialist has a role by default in the physical security application to safeguard the cybersecurity of the overall company network.

Another trend that we have seen is the development of the proptech movement which is propelling the adoption of Cloud Security Solutions. What fintech is doing for the disruption of the traditional financial services industry by making use of technology, proptech, or property technology, is doing for the real estate industry.

In this context, Eagle Eye Networks partnered with a Global Contech (construction technology) and Proptech organization, with our CEO Dean Drako giving a video presentation focused on smart buildings.
