Vertical Market Highlight: Property Management

January 28, 2016 Hans Kahler

Property management is a great vertical market for security integrators who specialize in video surveillance. Property managers with multiple locations often struggle with the burden of managing multiple video surveillance systems. Fortunately, there’s a solution.

Problem:
A property manager is dealing with multiple locations which means multiple video systems.

Solution:
Using a cloud video management system (VMS) means that all of the locations are consolidated in one place, making it easy to view multiple locations on one screen.

Problem:
Taking over a building often comes with an existing video system, which means different IP cameras and frequently analog cameras.

Solution:
A system that works with both IP and analog cameras, which means no expensive camera overhaul in order to get full use out of the analog cameras.

Problem:
There are so many video systems to maintain.

Solution:
A cloud VMS means that updates are pushed over the cloud. No need to go on-site and all upgrades and fixes can be done simultaneously.

Security is also a major challenge at locations like apartment complexes and office buildings because they have common doors providing easy access points. The high traffic at these entrances and exits (between both tenants and guests) doesn’t make security any easier.

Having video surveillance at each location is important because it can be used for:

  • Theft/Crime Detection
  • Vandalism Reduction
  • Crime Deterrence
  • Monitoring Suspicious Activity

Having a VMS that can be accessed by mobile devices is especially important with the ubiquity of smartphones and tablets. A property manager is constantly on the go between locations. Not having to use a specific computer with specifically downloaded software is crucial. Property managers have to be able to keep an eye on all of their locations no matter where they are, at all times- especially if there is any kind of emergency.

Which, speaking of emergencies, the ability to share video easily is also important. If a crime happens, the property manager needs to be able to share what happened with the police as well as any tenants that might be affected. Point and click to download clips and sharing video streams are huge advantages of a cloud system.

Property management, a market which is prevalent in every city and town across the world, may have some unique needs but there’s an easy answer found in the form of a cloud VMS.
