South Huron Hospital Success

South Huron Hospital, in Ontario, Canada was one of many hospitals struggling with a diminishing supply of PPE (personal protective equipment) in the fight against the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Hospital administrators realized they would need a unique solution to address the situation and provide staff with proper protection while continuing patient treatments.

The director of IT saw an immediate opportunity to integrate video surveillance and a two-way intercom system to help minimize contact between staff and highly contagious patients, resulting in the preservation of limited PPE supplies.

The Challenge:

The hospital had several qualifications that the system needed to meet:

  • Speed and simplicity of deployment was a priority. IT staff could only be on-site to deploy the system for a short number of hours, meaning they needed a quick and easy installation that wasn’t overly complicated on the network side.
  • The ease of use needed to be considered as non-technical personnel like doctors and nurses would be the primary users of the system.
  • Cyber secure remote accessibility was also a key factor, allowing the staff to securely access the platform from their mobile devices without compromising the hospital’s cybersecurity with open ports.

The Solution:

After evaluating the available options and careful consideration of the hospital’s cybersecurity and remote accessibility requirements, South Huron Hospital decided the Eagle Eye Networks Cloud VMS would be best suited to meet the facility’s needs. Once the hospital settled on the Eagle Eye Cloud VMS, the system was fully deployed and run entirely by the doctors and nurses within 2 business days.

Using Eagle Eye Cloud VMS, South Huron Hospital was able to develop a unique and innovative solution. Doctors and nurses can now effectively treat patients with high-risk diseases and more effectively manage their supply of PPE. The Eagle Eye Cloud VMS has provided staff with a safeguard during these uncertain times and a dependable plan for the future.
