AUSTIN, Texas. October 9, 2014 – Eagle Eye Networks today announced that its video security system is protected from the Shellshock (CVE-2014-6271) vulnerability in the Unix Bash shell, as well as the related vulnerabilities 6277, 6278, 7169, 7186, and 7187. The Eagle Eye Networks Security Camera Video Management System (VMS) is a cloud service for managing and recording video.
The Eagle Eye Networks team of security professionals immediately patched its cloud-based security camera system solution to protect against each Shellshock vulnerability, ensuring its customers are secure and not compromised.
“Shellshock impacted the Linux operating system, which is utilized in many computers and devices connected to the internet,” said Dean Drako, President and CEO, Eagle Eye Networks. “The question to ask is whether it is your vendor’s responsibility, your reseller’s responsibility, or your responsibility to patch and keep your Video Management System (VMS) secure. Who is responsible for keeping your VMS and OS safe? Do you have to interrupt your business and assign someone to fix these new vulnerabilities as they are uncovered? How quickly does your vendor or reseller take action? These are serious questions. Eagle Eye Networks takes responsibility and gives our customers peace of mind.”
