Camera Direct Complete

Eagle Eye Networks Camera Direct Complete is an affordable, direct-to-cloud security solution that expands access to Eagle Eye Networks Cloud VMS (Video Management System), even for businesses that only need a few cameras and have a limited budget. With Camera Direct Complete, users get the full-featured Eagle Eye Cloud VMS without the need to purchase an Eagle Eye Bridge or additional hardware.

Eagle Eye Networks reseller Vigilant Technology was an early adopter of Camera Direct Complete and a participant in the public beta program before the product became widely available. Vigilant Technology is a security and camera installer based outside of Atlanta that serves regional and national customers.

Vigilant Technology President Brian Hampton had two existing customers in mind when he first learned about Camera Direct Complete.

“I think Camera Direct Complete is best for customers that don’t want to commit to a full scale system with a recorder on-site or a Bridge for low camera count,” Hampton said. “If they just have one or two cameras per site this makes way more sense financially.”

Limited cameras at multiple sites

Hampton shared that one of his customers, a security guard services company, wanted to add a camera to each location where they station a guard.

They wanted to ensure quality customer service, he said, but also wanted the camera for liability reasons. They were previously using cameras they bought on Amazon. “Low cost and low features, and a lot of headaches,” Hampton said, “I heard about Camera Direct Complete and thought this checks all of the boxes for them as far as the headaches that they have been having.”

Vigilant started by adding Camera Direct Complete to sites in the Atlanta area to test the product.

“We needed something that was not a big physical install, and we could deploy Camera Direct Complete by plugging the camera into power and the internet.” Hampton said. “The guards are under contract. If the contract expires or ends for whatever reason we can go in and pull the camera and deploy it somewhere else.”

Hampton pointed to the Lifetime Repair & Replace benefit to the subscription as another selling point. The cameras are included in the Camera Direct Complete cloud subscription and are covered for the length of the subscription.

“The cameras are going to be deployed in guard shacks. With the warranty we can say ‘whatever happens with the cameras we can get you a new one pretty quick,’” Hampton said.

Camera Direct Complete provides solutions for businesses that:

  • Need 1-4 cameras at one or many locations.
  • Have a limited CapEx budget.
  • Need a camera installed quickly.
  • Have remote or unstaffed locations, or limited space.
  • Want hardware repair and replacement coverage.

Immediate surveillance needs

Hampton identified a second customer who could benefit from Camera Direct Complete. His customer, a credit card processing company that was already using Eagle Eye Networks in some locations as well as cloud access control provider Brivo, had an immediate need to add a surveillance camera.

Hampton said the company had some items go missing from one of their server rooms. “They called me and said ‘we need to get a camera in there right now, what can we do?’” Hampton suggested linking Camera Direct Complete to the existing Brivo system at two office locations to get full time video surveillance. “We got them up and running quickly.”

Future uses for Camera Direct Complete

Hampton likes the simplicity of the Camera Direct Complete solution. “The installation is pretty painless as far as adding a MAC address and within five minutes the camera is online and we’re good to go.”

In addition to customers with low camera count needs and fast surveillance installations, Hampton sees the subscription-based solution as a good fit for customers with limited budgets.

“I’ve had a few customers that didn’t have the capital to make a big purchase, so having this available now to say ‘do you have the OpEx where you could afford a monthly purchase?’ gets them in the door with an Eagle Eye cloud system.”
