Eagle Eye Networks introduces open source software for the ‘plug-and-play’ connection of cameras, DVRs and encoders to the cloud during the IFSEC trade fair. This software, EE Connect, is based on 10 years of experience with practical integrations, according to the service provider specialized in ‘Security in the Cloud’.

The open source SDK from Eagle Eye can be used by the entire security industry. “Our primary goal is to make video surveillance easier for the integrator, the installer and the customer. Open systems have proven to do better than closed systems, “says Dean Drako, CEO of Eagle Eye Networks. “We have extensive experience in integrating cameras and recorders from the best manufacturers in the world. Now we have incorporated this experience and our expertise in the field of cyber security into this open solution. ”

End of closed system approach
EE Connect is available for all camera manufacturers, end users and VMS makers. Camera manufacturers that incorporate EE Connect into their products can let their customers use any cloud system that implements EE Connect, including the Eagle Eye CameraManager and Eagle Eye Cloud VMS platforms. Eagle Eye offers associated certification and test tools.
According to Steve Van Till, chairman of the Standard Committee of the Security Industry Association, the open source approach offered by Eagle Eye has never before been offered in the security industry, while it is very common in the IT sector, for example. According to Van Till, the public availability of the source code of EE Connect and the SDKs (software development kit) could put an end to the closed system approach, which makes it difficult for installers and end users to expand systems with new technology.
