Object Counting Video Analytics

Optimize your business with object counting analytics. Counting is used to count objects like people or vehicles crossing a line in either direction. Eagle Eye Networks offers counting analytics as an added feature with the Eagle Eye Cloud VMS (video management system). Eagle Eye analytics combine cloud-based video surveillance with powerful artificial intelligence to provide businesses with easy to understand data that improves safety and business operations.

Data-Driven Analytics Decisions

Eagle Eye Networks counting analytic turns a video security system into a tool for business optimization. When measured over days, weeks, and months, data from video analytics like counting can help business owners and operators detect trends and patterns around their business, such as peak store hours or traffic flow.

Understanding the number of customers and monitoring the traffic flow and patterns of a business is crucial to operations, allowing better planning around staffing and business layouts.

Yes, counting is one of the analytic features available to add as part of the Eagle Eye VMS. Analytics are available to add to any camera connected to an Eagle Eye Bridge/CMVR (except analog cameras on hybrid bridges/CMVRs).

Typically counting analytics can measure people or vehicles, so counting, object counting, people counting, car counting, and vehicle counting are interchangeable terms in video security. The ability for a camera to count a vehicle instead of a person is usually established in the settings, where the size of the object to be counted is set so that the analytic can recognize the intended object. Eagle Eye Networks counting analytic is able to separately count people and cars, depending on how the analytic is set up for each camera.

Data analytics processed in the camera, NVR, or cloud count objects crossing a line in either direction in a surveillance video camera field of vision and record the data. Eagle Eye Networks processes this information using AI in their cloud data centers.

For the highest accuracy counting people, use a dedicated camera mounted with a top-down view in which persons remain the same size as they travel through the image. To be counted, at least 50% of the object must cross the line and we can only configure one line per camera. For more tips to improve the accuracy of object counting, click here.

VCA stands for video content analytics, another common term referring to video analytics or video analysis (VA).

Counting is a beneficial advanced data analytic in CCTV (closed-circuit television) that counts objects as they move over a specified line. This analytic feature is combined with CCTV surveillance video storage systems.
