After dealing with weather, city ordinances and a little bit of good old fashioned miscommunication we finally got our signs today. Hopefully this will reduce the number of people coming into the office looking for “The Chive.” Also, those Jimmy John’s delivery guys on bikes should stop coming in as frequently. While the sign doesn’t actually add any space to our office, it does make it feel like we’ve grown up a bit.
For those of you that don’t know, our office is located in downtown Austin. Our entrance is on 5th street, just one block from Austin’s famous (or infamous) 6th street. We have a rich tech community during the day and a vibrant entertainment district at night.
The building we’re in is mixed use, with commercial on the first floor, and residents on the second and third floors. During the evening times some people mistake our business for one of their friends’ condos. Having the signs will help reduce that confusion, but will also reduce the funny incidents we capture on our cameras. Don’t worry, we’ll still have plenty of interesting videos to share in the days to come.
