As many of you know, we officially launched the company last week. We got a lot of recognition in the press, which you can read about on our News page. However, we’ve had quite a few customers for a while. In fact, we had to expand our infrastructure this weekend to allow for the increased demand we’re experiencing. Our team was busy configuring new servers and storage and making sure everything was ready.
The reason I mention this, is because there is no way anyone else would have known these activities were going on. It happened all behind the scenes and was very uneventful for those using the system, just the way it should be for a cloud service.
One analogy that I have heard is that this is kind of like rotating the tires on a car, while it’s driving down the highway. This bit of simple maintenance illustrates just one of the many benefits of cloud. Running a cloud service doesn’t mean that there’s no maintenance to be done, just that the customers don’t have to worry about it. It’s also another example of how a successful cloud application is more than just technology, it’s operations, culture and commitment to service that make a cloud service work.
