How Eagle Eye Gun Detection helps keep people safe

Spotting a brandished gun on premises automatically can gain you crucial seconds to react, right when that time is most needed.

Many people don’t immediately report a gun due to uncertainty or fear of personal risk. The Eagle Eye Cloud VMS sends alerts to staff or trained professionals who can engage law enforcement directly.

How Gun Detection works

An AI system trained to spot guns examines a scene in real time and reduce the chance of false alarms. When a threat is spotted, the system immediately passes on the information.

Camera video is continually examined frame by frame, and an object recognition analytic running on an on-site bridge is used to identify specific objects, based on millions of data points. Each bridge can support multiple cameras running gun-detection analytics.
In the case of Eagle Eye Gun Detection, only detected guns that are brandished (actually in a person’s hand) are called out for further analysis.
Initial gun identification is immediately followed by both automated and live verification to virtually eliminate false alarms.

How AI improves Gun Detection

In the task of detecting weapons, AI camera systems have advantages that make them the best first line of defense.

Human observers can’t always be available to watch for guns, and their attention may be divided across the areas they need to cover. Cameras can function 24 hours a day, and from multiple vantage points within a room.
In-person observers close enough to spot a gun might be in no position to report it without putting themselves in danger, or might be reluctant to report a gun if they’re not certain about what they’ve seen.
The cameras that enable AI detection and verification also enable live analysis by human observers.
