Jr. Systems Administrator/Data Center Tech

This position requires a solid technical base of understanding networks and Linux servers. Ideal candidate will have exposure or experience working in ISP, data center, or Enterprise IT operations. You will be directly involved with building a cutting edge DevOps infrastructure with Saltstack, Git, Nagios/Icinga, Amazon AWS EC2, and ELK stack and also building out local and international data center infrastructure.

This position is ideally suited for a positive, self-motivated team member who is excited to grow their skill set implementing real world DevOps tools and infrastructure spanning the globe.

Required Skills:

• Ability to quickly learn and pickup new technical skills from engineering peers and the Internet.
• Be self directed and run with tasks with minimal direction until completion.
• Work on complex and detailed tasks.
• Have strength in communicating with other team members for help and coordination of tasks.
• Observe monitoring systems and proactively investigate issues for remediation.
• Must be able to drive personal vehicle, carry and lift equipment up to 50 lbs installing equipment in data center environment with moderate noise and cool temperatures.
• Participate in on call pager escalation rotation schedule. May be required to work off-hours, weekend & holidays as needed for coverage.

Highly desirable skills:

• Previous experience working in data centers or ISPs.
• Understanding IT hardware at a CompTIA A+ level or higher.
• Understanding DNS, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, SSH, Git, MySQL, and scripting.
• Using Jira or other Sprint/Scum based Agile task tracking tools.
• Educational background in Information Systems or Computer Science.
