Windows recently rushed out security patches to fix their operating system, creating even more headaches for their customers. It’s no wonder most customers are switching to cloud-based services where they don’t have to worry about these issues.
Anyone running a video management system (VMS) on Windows Server @008 R2 or Windows 7 needs to apply these patches quickly. This is a security vulnerability large enough to drive a Boeing 747 through.
Literally every and any process running on the system gets full access to all memory. It’s like not having an operating system at all – a flashback to the early days where programs were just kind to each other and did not step on each other even though they could.
We recommend making sure you are fully patched on a weekly basis if you are running any of your security on a Windows system. Or consider moving to the cloud. Cloud really is the future for video surveillance.
