Enhancing rail safety for Avanti West Coast with AI analytics

Rail travel on one of the UK’s busiest lines relies on accurately spotting potential safety and security issues – but full-time observation, whether in-person or through full-time observation of raw camera streams, is impractical and inefficient.
That’s why Avanti West Coast turned to SECOM to explore how AI — specifically, AI analytics from Eagle Eye Networks — could enhance real-time awareness across its stations with always-on observation and analytics, and help secure the millions of journeys their passengers take annually.
Now, potential security risks or safety concerns (from falls and overcrowding to lost or abandoned baggage) can trigger alerts in real time. Augmenting other data sources with AI-driven awareness means Avanti West has gained a valuable tool for enhancing their riders‘ experience.
