This isn’t an isolated incident of IP cameras being exposed online. However, this is the largest case to make waves in the media with over 73,000 IP cameras all around the world being indexed and collected in one place. <\/p>\n
The website at the center of all of the controversy, Insecam, says that it’s site “has been designed in order to show the importance of the security settings.” Gizmodo<\/a> asked the question we’re all wondering: Is this really about highlighting an important security problem or is it a scheme to profit off creepy voyeurism– or both? <\/p>\n Luckily, it’s easy to get your camera off of the website– just change your camera’s password from the default and it will disappear. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the camera owners have no way of knowing that their camera is being broadcast to the world wide web through the website. <\/p>\n Here at Eagle Eye Networks, we’re committed to protecting our customers from cyber attacks like this.
