Is your current system ready for what comes next? That’s the kind of question we aim to address in our annual Trends Report.

In this year’s report, we describe how video surveillance is fundamentally shifting from a purely reactive tool to an engine for proactive business intelligence and safety.

This transformation is driven by two indispensable forces:

Cloud-Native AI: Moving beyond simple object detection to enabling complex, natural-language-based rule creation, automating entirely new workflows for safety and operations.

The Enterprise Cloud Tipping Point: The cost of maintaining obsolete on-premises systems now outweighs the efficiency and predictable OpEx of modern, unified cloud platforms.

We also explore critical movements like the rise of active readiness in incident response, the growing demand for AI-driven features like gun detection, and how regulatory compliance is becoming a core operational reality.

Decision-makers — from business leaders to municipal managers — need to know which platform is flexible enough for what’s coming next. That means recognizing people, vehicles, and objects (from hard hats to drawn guns) to enable fast, appropriate responses. And staying audit-ready year-round, with logs that can withstand regulatory scrutiny. More than just objects or simple message passing, though, it’s about initiating actions in response to complex situations when a safety or security issue is spotted on camera.

And when an emergency arises, it also means coordinating with local emergency services to provide the situational awareness police and firefighters need to do their jobs with confidence.

If you’re already an Eagle Eye Cloud VMS user, you probably recognize that we’re already implementing systems that help make these trends useful in the real world.
