Dean Drako<\/a>, the founder and CEO of Eagle Eye Networks and owner and chairman of Brivo<\/a> is also an automotive enthusiast with his own electric car company, Drako Motors<\/a>. Dean recently talked with SP&T News<\/a><\/em> about his passion for cars and the lessons for security that he’s gained from this long-time parallel interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/em>Growing up in Detroit, Drako was surrounded by car culture. \u201cThat\u2019s what makes the city go round,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A car lover who has spent a lot of time behind the wheel, he couldn\u2019t help but see what he says is a flaw in modern automotive design \u2014 a lackluster approach to software integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was always disappointed with the electronics architecture and the lack of software architecture,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drako saw an opportunity to develop better software for cars that was fully integrated and started an R&D project for an operating system that could run a car more effectively and efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow would that work? How would it communicate with all the components?\u201d Drako figured the quickest and best way to find out was to design a prototype vehicle to run the software, and a new company was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
