BazaarVoice held their annual conference + hackathon and we were lucky enough to participate. Because of the strong engineering talent they attract it made sense for us to let people loose with our Video API and see what they could create. To make it more exciting we had a $1000 prize for best project.

We had a great reaction from the crowd and after the 48 hours ended three projects were completed. All three used video in different ways. One detected faces in the video, another tracked what customers were looking at, and the last made personalized product recommendations.

The winning team won because they were able to create a product that used existing cameras to offer clothing recommendations to customers as they shopped. With more time it could be extended to detect the age, gender, and clothing style of the person. It was a lot of fun and we can’t wait for next year. Watch the videos below to see what they built and had to say about working with our API.
